Ideas to get visitors to your exhibition stand

With actual attendance at exhibitions now a reality for 2022, thoughts are turning to maximising these opportunities. It’s an organisers job to get the right people to the venue and moving around the whole event area, which they often do via ‘education hubs’ and strategic placement of refreshments and catering. But, past that, it’s the exhibitor’s job to seize the occasion and ensure there’s a really good reason for visitors to pop by their exhibition stand.

How do I get visitors to my exhibition stand?

There’s hundreds of ideas to use to attract visitors to stands, but their success will depend on:

  1. Choosing something that’s highly relevant for your target audience profile

  2. Telling them regularly beforehand that you have a stand, where it is and why they should find you on the day; and

  3. How prepared your team is to engage in the right conversations

Together with a stand design that fits your brand, tells your story and stands out from the crowd, then you’ll be set for success.

Ideas to attract visitors

You should set KPIs for every exhibition you attend, and the attraction ideas can really help you to smash them out of the park. So, for example:

  • If you want to improve your social media following… Run a #checkinforthewin campaign. Get visitors to find your stand, take a pic of themselves there and post it to their social media accounts with the hashtag for a chance to win a pretty significant prize.

  • If you want to secure strong leads but that means visitors need to spend time talking to your team, then make your stand useful to them: Turn your space into a R&R lounge – mobile phone charging stations, comfy seating, light beverages, and so on. Give your sales team the opportunity to do what they do best.

  • If you want to raise brand awareness, quickly: Promotional give-aways are ideal… pens and caps always have a place, but if you want to really have something to follow up, why not get some branded wireless phone chargers ready for visitors to use – after all everyone’s battery runs out at a show! Completing a quick registration card to allow you to qualify leads after the event and agreeing to accept a follow-up call will be a small price to pay for such a useful piece of kit for free!

  • If you run out of time pre-event and your comms are limited to drive traffic to your stand: What about having a ‘mascot’ to meet and greet visitors arriving at the event, handing out a good reason for people to find your stand, of course? A 7ft gorilla with vouchers to collect a free bottle of water (branded!) and a slice of pizza surely couldn’t be a bad idea?

If you’re exhibiting this year and want some out of the box ideas to get visitors to your exhibition stand, then just send us your event objectives and let us see what we can come up with for you.
